Monday 23nd August 2021: Inchies Diary, and sometimes the odd ode, that might be told?

Sunday Evening Catch-Up

Got the Sunday blog finished and posted off and went on Facebooking, TFZer and Winwood Heights. Checked for any comments on Blogger.

Carer Julie (?) did the medications.

Nosh.

Head down - Soon nodded off, but horrible dreams and I kept waking up. I've not the foggiest what they were about now. I  just knew they were uncomfortable, to say the least.

MONDAY 23rd AUGUST 2021

05:10hrs: I stirred. The Thought Storms were noticeable by their absence!

I mused over what needed doing today. The Doctors appointment this afternoon, try to sort more decluttering; I'd not washed the pots last night... (Hoe can I suddenly remember things like that?) Ah, Iceland delivery... better get up and make a start. The body was not too keen on this idea from the brain, but the usual want of a wee-wee forced me out of the recliner.

Once I'd struggled to pass a dribble or two, the mind went into a, doing odd jobs and finishing very few of them mode. Although I did complete the first one, doing the health checks. (Smug-Mode-Engaged)

Health Check Results

Oh, dearie me! The dang Blood Pressure was continuing its climbing up the scale!

Back up in the second danger zone again. And this after going down for several days, and at one time (Saturday), I was down into the 'Ideal' green section... I should have known it wouldn't last for long. Tsk!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Morning Odd Job Man

I was all over the place. Started doing the pots. Then broke off, made up some waste bags, put the kettle on, finished the pots, then...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Porcelain Throne Session

Well, that went well! One massive torpedo flowed painlessly and had somehow disappeared of its own volition before any flushing? Not smelly, not messy and minimal bleeding worth mentioning! Washed the cloths and put them in the sink, disinfected.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Back To The Odd Jobs

Sorted out some more stuff for the Winwood Table, put them in the hallway on the radiator. Will this decluttering ever end?

Made another waste bag up and put it with the others in the box.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Wee-Wee

Doing some sorting in the big room and nipped to the wet room for a wee-wee. En route, I did a toe-stubbing of monumental agony! I think I may have sworn a bit. Then noticed I'd left the hot water tap running in the sink!

Updating Blog

I didn't get far, and a text message came in from Iceland. It informed me the delivery will arrive twixt 06:00 > 08:00hrs, and nothing is missing, no substitutions either! My EQ intervened with my thoughts - telling me, 'This delivery will not go well!' Oh, dear, my EQ is never wrong either! I pressed on with this blog, very few wee-wees interfering this morning?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

06:45hrs: The Mobile Rang!

It was from Iceland (My EQ proved correct again!) They are having problems this morning, and the delivery will be late. Will I be in if it is after 08:40hrs? Without thinking, I said yes, no problem. After the call, I dreaded the thought of my four boxes of ice lollies and the state they would be in. Pouches of liquid and a wooden stick in each, I imagine.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Liberty-Global Virgin Internet Down!

Pressing on with the blog, and, it's hard to believe, I know, but Liberty-Global Virgin Media Internet went Down again!

Waiting For The Morning Carer

The door chime rang out! It was Carer Valerie. Got the medications sorted out. But knew nothing of reminding me about the appointment with the doctor or not to give me a Furesomide tablet.

Jill had asked Meridian to get the carer to remind me today of the appointment and not taking a Furesomide tablet. Valerie had not been told anything about this. Sad!

Awaiting The Belated Iceland Delivery

As soon as they come and I get the fodder away, I can do the ablutions. Did some sorting and took the bags to the chute - Oh, no... I might miss the late Iceland man. Oh, here he is now...

The gentleman kindly put the bags in the doorway blocking the door open. I moved them inside and got them to the kitchen. Dropping some stuff off in the junk room.

Got the ice lollies out first. Sure enough, they were practically melted. These will be misshaped and sticky when it comes to opening them. Not that Iceland, any more than Amazon or Liberty-Global Virgin Media, will be bothered in the slightest about their failures.

Planning Mode Attained!

Well, I must get the ablutions done next. Then the bags of... no, I'll ring Deana first to see if she'll be in when I go out... she'll ring back. Getting a dizzy here. The mind is stubbornly refusing to listen to me?

Better get the wet room things done as soon as she rings back. Then dressed, paperwork for the surgery, nibble en route, walk there, bus it back to Sherwood, and a 40 bus up the hill... There's something I've forgotten... Oh, dearie me... Not good this.

Set Out on Hobble to the Doctors

Hoping I'd remembered everything, I set out on my mission to the Doctors.

Down and along the link passage into Winwood Court. On my way to drop off a packet of cobs for the hair lady and some bits for Warden Deana.

Poor Deana has been on her own for a fortnight, and I expected to see Julie back from her two-week holiday. But No! Deana has it all on again. Julie has been 'Pinged' and is now self-isolating! Felt sorry for Deana. Left her a bag of treats; I hope it cheered her up at the thought of having it all to do.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Out and align Chestnut Walk, turning right down Winchester Street. The new private flats were progressing well by the look.

Down the hill, and at the bottom, I met, of all people, coming up Jill and her hubby Carmichael; I may have got the name wrong? (Jill just arrived and laughed at my using Carmichael. advising me it was Eugene!) I was p[leased to see the lad, decent sort, with the abandon of Covid we shook hands. Jill said she'd see me later.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I called in the Ozan shop, and I got a tin of peas and a small packet of delicious looking orange flavoured shortcake biscuits. Not for me, of course... well, yes, it was.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I struggled up the hill, and the sunshine and heat were lovely, but not when walking. When I got into Carrington, a cyclist came at me, giving inches between us. I turned and took a zoomed-in shot of him. Git!

On I plodded, down to the Lidl Store. Where I bought chicken thighs, wieners, cooked ham and tomatoes. As I came out, I called in the chemists to see if the prescriptions might be ready. They were, so I collected them. The trolley guide was getting full now, to carrier bags on the handles and the basket full.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

On my way to the surgery, another Pavement Danger nearly clouted my from behind this time. Swine!

Doctors Session

Got to the Doctors surgery and sat in the outer waiting area until it was time for the appointment. (As instructed)

I loved the new (to me) receptionist. Her head rose from the computer screen, with a slight sneer of contempt, her right arm shot out, Hitler fashion, as she said "Take a Seat!", pointing at the meagre eight chairs spread out in Covid-19 style. I didn't think it was worth speaking; it might have been dangerous to say the wrong thing! So I nodded, sat down, and got the crossword book out. Not that I got any clues solved, but still.

Nurse Caroline came to me, and we went into the Nurses room, awaiting me in there, a damned scary sight for any patient, let alone an already nervous one... The most impatient nurse I have ever come across! Senior Practice Nurse Ann! She was doing the memory test on me.

While Nurse Ann was on her computer, I handed the nibble bag to Nurse Caroline. I wouldn't risk giving it the Ann and saying the wrong thing. She's not that bad really, bet she laughs when she reads this - although I've never seen her laugh.

Transpired that Dr Vindla will call me on the landline (she does know about my bad hearing, of course), Re Memory, on the 31st August, at 10:00hrs. After assessing the results of today's session.

Thanked the gals and off to the bus stop.

Buses Back Home

I wobbled along with the trolley to the bus stop in Carrington. Where something I've never seen before awaited me at the shelter. I dare not take a photo. It looked as if a family had moved into the bus shelter. A bloke, two men and four kids were in there, with a dog. Hehe! I couldn't get to signal to stop a  bus. So, I walked down to the next bus stop. As the vehicle passed that stop, they were all still in the shelter. Oddlimost! They were probably just waiting for a specific bus, but my mind saw the funny side to it. Hahaha!

Got Off In Sherwood

I was going to call into the bank, to get the Declutteres money to pay him with, but again, I'd gone out in the sleeveless jacket and could not find the card number!

So, I crossed the road and called at the Co-op. Thought I might get some fresh garden peas, although Lidl had no canned or fresh peas available, my hopes were slight, just as week cause the Co-op had none as well.

Making my way up the hill to the bus stop, I espied one of the dreadfully abused Escotters left on the pavement. A danger to anyone unsighted! This leaving them all over the place ought to be tackled more efficiently.

My option would be to stop them altogether.

Bus Stop Gossip

It was a delight when I saw Doris, Frank and Roger (I think) sat in the shelter. We shared a  gossip, laugh, leg-pulling ensued. Right and properly enjoyed the persiflage that flew between us! Thanks, folks! Sorry, I didn't think of taking a photo. Tsk!

Back At The Flats

I went up in the lift and got back into the flat, perfect timing for a wee-wee to be needed. It's a good job that I remembered not to take a Furesomide tablet. Timed that rather spiffingly, I thought. Smug-Made-Entered!

Suffered some pain in encouraging the somewhat reluctant, recalcitrant evacuation; a fair bit of bleeding. I washed and went to take a Furosemide tablet.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Nosh!

Not feeling up to much after the peripatetic mini-gadabout. Tired would be the most appropriate word to describe my condition. I got a quick meal made up, no cooking at all, saved a lot of time. The chicken thighs were ready-cooked. A cold can of peas, cheese portions and some of the delightful tasting tomatoes, most kindly donated by Jenny. And wholemeal buttered cobs with mandarin juice. A worthy 8/10 Taste-Rating.

Oh dear, I've not thanked Jenny yet! Damn! I'll email her straight away! Back in a while... I'm back; belated email's been sent.

I Cratered into the Recliner!

I got into the second-hand, £300, c1968, overwhelmingly-sickeningly beige coloured, tatty, uncomfortable, wobbly-recliner. And was asleep within five minutes. I had a dream, I think? Cats were in it.

But it was only for an hour or so, but very welcomed all the same. I woke with a jump, no idea why. I soon worked out what day it was, who I was, and where I was. Hehe!

Evening Angel Carer Jill!

Jillie came in as I standing up from the chair. I was physically exhausted still and a smidgeon confused at first. What a woman! I knew I was born too soon! According to my notes on the pad, Jillie called the insurance people for me, she led me through the questions (I remember this now?), and a new policy was started.

I came round a lot from my inertia, and Jill took things down for me, as week as the waste bags to the chute. ♥ Thanks, Jill ♥ I thanked her as she departed.

Head Down

I fetched an ice lolly from the freezer and settled to watch a TV programme.

I nodded off very quickly, waking up some five hours later, with the ice lolly within the folds of fat of my stomach. The freezing coldness didn't even wake me! I must have needed the slumbering. Grrreat!

Tuesday 13th July 2021

05:00hrs: I woke. 05:01hrs: I fell back to sleep. 0525hrs: I woke up again, in need of a wee-wee. 05:30hrs, Wee-wee completed, and off to get the early stand-up ablutions done.

Ablutions

I could not find the Duraphat toothpaste?

But, the session was one of the better ones. I was stood standing there at the sink, with my feet in a bowl of hot water and Dettol, and completed the shaving operation whilst the feet soaked. Got the shaving sone with only three dropsies and two of the tiniest cuts on the chin.

Completed the scrubbing up, and I got the medicationalisationing done. All went decently well, I must say. Then the Porcelain Throne was needed - which was very handy as I was stood one hobble away from it at the time. Hehehe!

All went tremendously well. A tiny bit of blood from the Harolds Haemorrhoids, but an awful lot from Little Inchies fungal lesion! Boy, the pain when medicating him a second time! Argh!

The feet were looking much betterer.

Handwashing Done

After washing the shirt, I made and drank a mug of Glengettie tea and check the Boot's made in China Sphygmomanometer. The reliable, trustworthy, Chinese manufactured contactless thermometer both working fine.

New Carer Arrived

Young gal. But she tried to give me a Warfarin! Luckily, my being 'with-it' a bit more this morning, I caught on to the error. I calmly explained that these are nighttime tablets, and there was only one, when tonight, the dose will be two tablets. The girl had not called on me before (I think), and others have cocked my Warfarin up as well, so I was very calm with her. The system is confusing to me, so the carers have a job of working things out for the first few times they call.

Prepped Things For The Busride To Bulwell

Turned off the computer, and I readied things for the bus ride out to Bulwell. Things seem to have helped me in getting ready, early Carer's arrival... Now I'm worried! As I thought this, my EQ spoke: "Don't get too excited!"

Out... Whoopsiedangleplops

I got down to the ground floor; the noise from the drain cleaning was horrendous! I walked through to the Wardens Den, both busy. Back and into the link passage, and I thought I'd take a photograph. Huh! Turned the Canon camera on, 'No SD Card in this camera' message. Peed-off with myself to a great degree, I went back up in the lift to collect the SD card. Damn it! I was going to miss the bus if I wasn't quick. Humph!

Back down again to the passageway.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

 Agh! Whoopsiedangleplop!

Got down to the ground floor lobby once more. I'd left the mobile phone in the flat! As I was walking back to the elevators - the fire alarm sounded! Of course, the lifts would not work now. So I was marooned! Hehe!

No way I could get up the 24 flights of stairs with the trolley. I had to wait until the fire brigade arrives. The caretakers came and tried to get the lifts restarted, but it was a long job, by which time any hopes of catching the bus were lost!

RANTING

I was fuming at my stupidity in getting into this mess. Even angrier at the circumstances of how I'd got myself in this Gawd-Awful dilemma!.

I had to wait for ages, but eventually, the lifts returned to service. So, I got up to the flat...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

WHOOPSIEDANGLEPLOP!

I got in and could not remember what I'd come up to the apartment for? But there is no chance of catching the bus to Bulwell now.

I had a frenzied, apoplectic ranting session again, all aimed at my own patheticness. Cursing,  swearing, spitting and got myself all worked up! This did Duodenal Donald, no good at all! I gulped down a good swig of the useless Peptac medicine, and I started updating this blog.

What To Do?

After much-convoluted thoughts and planning in my mind, I decided to go to the Co-op in Sherwood and get some pod peas, if they have any in stock. Which will be questionable!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

OUT AGAIN... Tentatively!

Down and along the link passage.

I called in to see the Wardens again, but both were looking so busy, I about-turned and poddled to the bus stop outside. Caught the 40 and down Winchester Street, pressing the bell for the bottom stop, but the bus didn't. Seems I'd not pressed the button correctly? Got off at the stop on Mansfield Road, crossed the pelican lights and into the Wilko store.  I came out with a kettle descaler and the three things I panned to get; a bottle of ylang-freesia freshener, Liquid Soapflakes, and lemon Zoflora disinfectant.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Down To The Co-op for the Pod Peas

The Co-op didn't have any pod peas... well, Grognangles!  Disappointed in that the cock-ups this morning meant I couldn't go to Morrison for my peas... Dammed Co-op! Crap!

But I did come out with three things that I just didn't need at all. (sounds familiar?) A Cheese Twist - £1.90. One tin of Smedley's Garden peas at 23p (30p at Sainsbury's!)  A loaf of sliced Sourdough bread (Naughty and not needed! I'm beginning to hate myself again, here!  Lemon Cheese desserts, £1,10 (They are for Josie). And a box of Essential and delightful) 99 tea bags. £2.10.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Killed Time Waiting To get the bus back...

I made my way up the hill to the bus stop. As I got within 200 yards or so of the shelter, the 40 bus arrived and shot off before I could get to it! Well, would you believe it! Humph!

Getting Mifterer by the minute today!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Options Considered

I hobbled down the hill, musing. After some considerable but inept and banal thoughts, I weighed up the options.

1) Walk back down the hill to Winchester Street and up the second steepest grade in Nottingham, back to the flats... No, maybe not!

2) Perhaps, I could have a go at doing the crossword book? Mmm!  Wait here for another hour for the next bus?

3) The only choice really; I'll walk back up the hill, down to Woodthorpe Grange Park and into the gates, up the slight hill to the Tree Copse, and down the steep, uneven gravel path, risking life and limb with the trolley guide... down to Chestnut Walk and my beloved Winwood Heights?

I'd gone so far down the hill while pondering, I found myself outside the Birds cream cake shop! Would I buy myself a cream cake, a diabetic, and an overweight one to boot? No, I was a good lad... mind you, I still bought two cream cakes... No, not for me, to treat Oberstgruppenfuhreress, Warden and Ballet Dancer, Deana, and cuddly Generaloberstess, Ice skating champion, Julie. Well, they were both working so hard this morning.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

A Grueling Walk Home Through The Park

.

Up and over the brow, down I went to the gates into Woodhthorpe Grange Park.

There were not many Nottinghamians about.

Highlight Of The Day!

As I took a breather under some trees, a chap and his dog came down the path, and I immediately fell for his elderly white Retriever/Labrador!

He had a black bag over his obviously so painfully front paw and hobbled over to me - his face spoke to me - asking, "Have you got anything for me to eat for me?" I just knew! I asked the chap if the dog liked cheese and would he mind if I gave him some on a savoury cheese curl? The man said, "He loves cheese!" So I got the cheese curl from the trolley, and the dog demolished it! His tail wagging furiously! And this made me as happy as the old poorly Labrador was!

I much regret not getting the camera out now!

Continued to the top and turned right near the top of the tree copse, and I saw the welcoming sight of the flats at the bottom.

I began the descent, doing my best not to let the trolley do the pulling!

Nearly at the bottom, all safe and soundish!

Hobbled along Chestnut Drive and dropped the cakes in the interrogation office for the gals. Noticed a bus just coming in, so had I waited for the bus, I'd have missed the wonderful dog in the walk up through the park.

As I poddled along the link corridor, Deana was coming in the opposite direction. I told her of the cream cake awaiting her return.

Through the swipe door into the decorative part of Woodthorpe Court. Hehe!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Home At Last!

Up in the elevator. As I got out of the cage, I took a selfie and gave you all a wave!
I hope you like it!

The feet were aching, but the other ailments were all being kind to me. The memory of the wonderful good-natured dog stayed with me.

I got the purchases unloaded on the server and took a snapshot of them.

I'm already looking forward to this evenings meal. I plan to have smoked ham and tomatoes in a sort of Dagwood type sandwich or two, with the mini new potatoes and a marmite cheese?

On the plus side, had I managed to get to Bulwell and Morrisons, as initially envisaged, I'd have spent a lot more dosh today!

Then I pondered whether I needed anything else foodwise but felt I didn't, as yet anyway. But I decided to make an order for next week, from J Sainsbury's delivery.

I stripped off all but the PP's (Protection Pants) to cool down after my exertions. And started to update this blog...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Whoopsiedangleplop!

In walked Matron Jackie! Oh, dearie me!

She told me they (Jackie and the Doctor) had got the blood test results back from the Severe Frailty Test, and I was still in the Pre-Diabetic level. She asked if I was still eating sugary things. (Thank heavens I didn't buy myself a cream cake- Hahaha!) I amazingly remembered them arranging for me to go on a Diabetic Course, then along came Covid, and they were cancelled and put on the web instead, but it was impossible to take part. I tested the site, I could not hear what people were saying. And when I still tried to join, it took a lot of help from people for me to get online - but the password they gave me, needed to access the course, didn't work when the time came. Jackie said she would look into it to see if I am still on the list for when the face-to-face meetings start again. It may have been the shock of seeing the wobbly blubbery, whale-shaped body of mine, but she shot off very quickly. Hehehe!

Ode To Today

So many Cock-ups, I can't keep calm,

No good praying or quoting a psalm,

It may time, for the funny farm?

With nausea, uneasiness, and a qualm,

And, I've just come to some more harm!

I walked into the doorframe, clouted my arm,

Tsk! Always a reason for panic and or alarm!

Evening Carer Arrived

The bubbly young gal (Helena?), the one with the tattoos. After she's sorted the tablets. Oh, and I remembered to tell her that there was Warfarin in the pill-splitter! Me? Remembered? Yes! Smug-Mode-Engaged. Hehehe! - She had a chinwag and look at the balcony windows and learnt how the windows open. A complicated system, I think the gal may have had problems when needing to open them in other flats for people?

Off she shot to her next customer.

Planned My Battle For Control of Sweet Morpheus

I put the TV on, to pretend to want to stay awake - hopefully, this ploy might fool Sweet Morpheus? I feel sure if she thinks that I want to stay awake, she'll ensure that I don't! After all, when I want to sleep, she so often denies it to me?

Not a chance!
