MONDAY 30th AUGUST 2021
06:00hrs: Waking up was hard enough. But encouraging the mind and body to accept the need of activity was a lot harder! In fact, I fell asleep again!
Morning Carer Arrived
07:00hrs: I was rudely awakened by my Morning Carer, Fatima! A first-time caller for me. A tall, slim gal, she hovered over me, introducing herself. Very patient with me, she was. Got the medications sorted without any errors, very efficient. Asked the questions me. I offered her a can of drink, she said she didn't drink; I said with a wink, that one's an alcohol-free drink! She took one. And off she shot!
Health Checks
Delighted with the results again!
I made a good strong mug of Glenettie tea. Then I took this snap of the end car park. Not many vehicles there, but there and blacks dominating.
Pondered Over Tasks To Do
I knew I had to get the flavouring casket sorted out to make room for the Microwave to fit in, but I doubt whether it will anyway. I'm a bit concerned about this.
But need to get the blog started, else I may not have time to do much of it.
Porcelain Throne Activity!
Off I trudged to the wet room. Got settled and the crossword book to hand, and I had plenty of time to have a go at the stubborn page 89 crossword that had me beat! I've been doing it for weeks now.
Agony... I thought something might give way in the innards. Haha! Painfully, oh, so slowly, testing my patience to the full.
What seemed like hours later, the final effort was applied to release the blood-coated torpedo into the bowl! A blessed relief, all the same! Ahhh! It made more of a clunk sound than plop.
I flushed the flush several times without success. I wasn't surprised, Gawd, the size of it! The cleaning up took me ages.
And the medicationing stung a little. I put some Germolene on the arm scratch, which is clearing nicely, and Germolened Harolds Haemorrhoids. It had to be done!
Checked Facebooking
After a quick look at Facebook, I got on with starting this blog off. After several hours and many wee-wees, I gave up on the computer and made a much-needed start on the kitchen decluttering.
It Felt Foreboding!
How the corner looked before I interfered with things. I'm sorry I did now!
The long grind of grafting at the decluttering of just a part of the kitchen began...
Started in the corner, moving things from the box below into the emptied cupboard. Hard work for my Arthur Itis and Peripheral Neuropathy Pete to cope with. Humph!
Kept making up small bags of rubbish as I went along. Tsk! So much out-of-date stuff was being discovered.
Took the container and sorted things out of it, and gave it a good cleaning. Got the good stuff back in the cleaned cupboard.
The waste-bag box was getting full now.
The door chimes rang forth. Went to investigate, and there on the floor in the lobby was a selection of the divinely tasty tomatoes. Left by Jenny, bless her. I got these put safely away. I must email Jen later to thank her, she's so kind. ♥
Off to the chute room with the first bag of waste bags, sent them down the tube.
Back to the flat and cleaned the corner counter, ready to try sorting out the microwave if it fits, cupboards arranged with good stuff in them.
How terribly disappointing! The flaming microwave did not fit on the counter! A cus word or two rang out! I resisted bursting into tears, though.
The door chimes sounded again. It was Josie returning the dish and tray from her meal yesterday. She was in good form. Josie said, "It was wonderful", about the chilli she'd had. Yee-Ha"
I got the right-hand side cupboard sorted out, plenty of out-of-date foods found, bottles, cans and packets! The box was nearly ready for emptying again. But the cabinets looked rather neat?
Then, I measured the space available on that side to get the microwave in. Phew! It fitted, but only just at a squeeze! Got the new kettle on the go on the left. Later finding out I had not put back the electric can opener - which was not good!
Well, at last, things were looking good, albeit just on the one side of the kitchen. The microwave was in place at long last; it only took me about three months from having it delivered to get it positioned. Har-har!
I still can't use it cause I'm a little nervous of setting it up. Jillie said she would do it for me, bless her. ♥
I've ordered some microwave sausages and chips for Wednesday, so there's no rush to use the oven yet.
I came across the new disabled-user can opener when I was clearing out a draw. Something else that I can't get to work! I've tried a few times, no luck. Sad, innit?
And another thing, when I thought about opening it to check the batteries to try again, could I open it? No! I also think I saw it laughing at me?
ACCIFAUXPAS!
I took the last box of bags to the waste chute room. Hey Ho! Trapped my wrist in the cast iron flap, and stubbed my toe coming out of the room.
Back to the apartment.
Jill Came In!
I'm afraid I did a bit of bragging about how well I'd done. Jill told me that hubby Eugene would be calling to move the heavy bag from the junk room, into the main room for when the dodgy sounding clutterers arrive in the morning. So, unbelievably kind to me!♥
Of course, regarding the work done and in need doing in the kitchen, I wasn't looking at the absolute mess and mayhem to every other view of the same kitchen. Tsk! But bravely took some photos...
I think I was fooling myself?
I tried to have a read of the microwave instructions, but they were not in small print, but I was getting so tired after what was, for me, a hectic day. I just succeeded in baffling myself more!
Started Updating This Blog
At long last (18:00hrs already!)
Hard work it was too. Shuddering Shoulder Shirley gave me a continuous panning, not as vicious ad she usually is, but it lasted for over an hour? The ache she left made it hurtful to move the shoulder at all. (Pity seeking moment there, did you notice?)
Went To Make A Brew Again
I'm not sure if it is me or using the new kettle, but the tea is not tasting the same as it did with the old kettle? Even the Glengettie doesn't taste so strong?
Jill & Eugene Arrived!
It was hectic, and I'm sure I missed some things that were said and or agreed upon. Eugene made short work of moving the armchair into the spare room for me. Then he mended or got the disabled can opener going, then had a look at the new microwave for me. Jillie got the medications sorted in between. I handed them some of, well, all of my record collection, but they forgot to take it with them; there was so much going on, and they had a lot of other stuff to take. I somehow, at great back-pain, got the box of records into the front room.
I think Jill said she'd try to pop in on Wednesday to see how the decluttering had gone on for me. Soon she will be gone forever - that eats at me.
Without these two good folks, I would be in a right mess now! ♥ I couldn't thank them sufficiently enough.
Very Nervous About the Declutterers!
I can't help it. What with the first impression the boss gave and my EQ warnings.
Got on with Updating this blog
Made a third mug of tea first. Thompsons Punjana. Pressed on relentlessly.
Then I Made a Chilli Nosh
Well, I started it off.

The end is near, I've seen a sign,
It imminent, in the Lord's design,
It's too late for your wrongs to realign,
It's time for us to drink the wine,
The end is nothing; it may be fine?
It may not be on Facebooks timeline,
But it's due, and coming in the pipeline,
Hurry, get drunk and dine,
Fret not about past actions, or quinine,
The times you've fallen out of line,
The poor devils in Palestine,
Nor the greedy, vicious or lupine,
For it's written in a cyberzine...
There'll be no need for amphetamine,
Or football's latest scoreline,
Soon you'll be free, happiness can be thine,
Although I'm fibbing... I am a swine!
Evening All!
The BP reading is splendid this morning, a real trend line is forming now. Holy cow now.
ReplyDeleteMud Gorning to you as well, Sir. Watching now for the grand appearance and formal testing of the microwave oven that has been collecting dust layers. Any minute now...
Things are starting to shape up in the organisational work places, looking betterer at each rearrangement.
We have the same red-slug can opener. I like it much, but HRH Lisa finds that it is far too slow for her patience level. Now what yer could do while waiting for the slug to complete its functions: brew a Glengettie or three or four.
A fine ode have yer written. Nice to have a timely fib to balance the outrages against the simple rages. What does that even mean?
A good Tuesday to one and all at the Thorpe in the Woods. Haven't heard much about Herbert's noises, now that is good news, innit?
Salutations, Sir: I've mixed feelings with the BP, your Worshipness. Joy at ow well things are going, but puzzled as to why? I fear when Jill ♥ leaves, things might go back to their normal?
DeleteI used the MW for the first time today, micro-chips and made a cob sarnie. Publishing photos went well (Bearing in mind that Blogger has yet to get at them to resize and change fonts, and formatting, in their usual indubitable fashion. Haha!
Tuesdays Decluttering bully-boys visit, made it the worst day for me since having the stroke, mate!
I still can't get it (Red Slug) to work for me, Bill? Eugene opened a can after changing the batteries and settings within, but will it work for me? No! (Humph!) Oddlimost, when Eugene was opening the can of peas, I thought thinkingly to myself along the lines of HRH Lisa. Glengettie encouraging skills it has, indeed. Hahaha!
' Nice to have a timely fib to balance the outrages against the simple rages (replace with frustrations)' It can mean so many things, can it not? But I like it!
Herbert's contributions continue, Billum, its just that the more urgent worrying, working at, paying for, and (rightly as it happens) fearing the Dangerous (As it turned out) Declutterers detestable attitude and damned bad workmanship, took over a large part of my feeble brain. Things do that to me, I've noticed.
Please to accept and pass on my bestest wishes and a gentle Ether-Hug, for HRH Lisa, Bill. ♥
You are corrupting miss Fatima? That's very good of you. Jill and Eugene are super sweet to help you out. I don't know if you saw my post last week, my mom died last Monday. She was 97 years old. My sister brought me all the artwork and photos that Laurie and I had given her over the years. Now that you are de-cluttering I getting more clutter. My infinite shed of doom is filled with stuff from our downtown office.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned in a reply that Jill was leaving? Is she going to do another job? Seems a shame. She has been very good to you and even has Eugene helping you out. Good looking chili. Excellent ode your photo for the Ode reminded me of this Medieval Help Desk skit on YouTube: https://youtu.be/pQHX-SjgQvQ
Jill (who will be leaving soon - Sob!)and Eugene have been treasures to me. Loads of stuff given them in thanks, they get first choice of owt worth owt, every time, bless them. I've given them a first edition Spike Milligan, Mussolini, My part in his Downfall' book. Worth more than anything in the flat, including me. Hehehe! Hoover, DVD, clothes, a new microwave I bought just before the stroke and forgot all about, and found again. Now I've bought another, that Jill set up for me ♥, its good to feel I can offer something back again. Now I've resigned from WordPress, for some reason I have trouble getting on it again. The computer blue screen keeps reminding me of the imminent death of the hard drive. So when I can, I try to catch-up with it then.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your Mom, Tim. I never had a family as such, but oddly was semi-contented as a youngster with me and Dad. Jane gone to Italy, Pete to Hong Kong, Mam to prison or on the run... Now its declutterers who are currently giving me hassle - Swine! I reported them to the Social Services today, and asked if they wanted to see the photographs of their imitation cleaning I paid £345 for, done in an hour and a half. of rushed confusing activity from the conmen - they didn't! After I told her that I am not prepared to pay nearly £700 a week for someone to do my washing and go shopping with me. They have taken me off of their care listing now.
Love your My infinite shed of doom commentski, Tim.
Jill will be starting a business from home, Sir. Say's she will supply me with her phone number before she leaves... I fear I'm in love again, (too late again, too old as well, Har-Har!)and may end up ringing her just to hear her voice (Haha!) A loss that I may not cope with.
Very hot that chilli, but I loved it, mate.
The Ode skits take me a lot of time nowadays to make, but I love doing them, kind of you to mention it. (Tate?)
